East West Acupuncture & Wellness Center
Located in Beautiful Westchase Community of Tampa
"Where Healing is a Spa-Like Experience" |
East West Acupuncture & Wellness Center provides services for the entire family from children to adults including age related issues. We provide a wide array of services including Acupuncture, Cupping, Western and Chinese herbal medicines, and Nutritional Counseling. East West Acupuncture & Wellness Center strives to prevent disease from occurring and to help everyone achieve optimal physical and mental health with the most natural and effective ways possible.
To help you achieve abundant health free of pain and restrictions, we don’t so much use extensive blood tests, MRI’s and the like, but rather analyze how you feel and what you are experiencing. We listen. We have a different way of looking at chronic disease and other issues. We try to find the underlying imbalances and figure out what has gone awry in the system, so that we can treat the root cause of discomfort. To do this, we use an Oriental Medicine diagnosis along with a nutritional analysis and an overall lifestyle review.
Oriental Medicine is a well rounded medicine with the ability to treat many internal medicine issues. According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the World Health Organization (WHO) acupuncture and oriental medicine have been shown effective in treating a wide variety of health conditions including acute as well as chronic conditions. See our Research page for a partial listing of conditions the NIH and WHO have shown Oriental Medicine to be effective in treating, plus links to current research.
Here at East West we offer acupuncture treatments along with additional adjunct therapies. Adjunct therapies may consist of cupping, moxibustion, auricular therapy, electro-stimulation or cold laser therapy.
The resident acupuncture physician, Dr. Shelly Masters, has mastered a light touch in needling. She strives to have all of her patients comfortable and relaxed during treatments. Acupuncture treatments should more reflect a spa-like experience than a dreaded treatment to endure. Our goal is to make your experience exceptional as well as healing. We can accommodate the apprehensive patient with needle free therapies as well.
Dr. Shelly has taken special interest in Sports Medicine/Orthopedics and Pain Management as well as OB/GYN concerns and Fertility issues including adjunct preparation for IVF. Although, please be assured that all family medicine issues are addressed and treated as well.
East West Acupuncture & Wellness Center also offers an on-site herbal pharmacy. Most Americans are unaware that in China the basis of Oriental Medicine is herbal medicine. In history, Chinese herbal pharmacology is an extensive science. Unlike western medicine where everyone with a certain condition will basically receive the same pharmaceutical prescription, Chinese Medicine custom blends herbal formulas to treat each individual patient’s condition.

Our herbal pharmacy consists of herbal formulas in pill form or liquid tinctures, systemic therapeutic enzymes, and topical remedies. Herbal-Only consultations are also available for those that would like to benefit from the wisdom of this ancient medicine without partaking in acupuncture treatments.
The Center is now offering MicroNutrient Testing (testing for levels of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and antioxidant capacity), Comprehensive Lipid Profiles and Telomere Testing (a measure of internal cellular aging as seen on Oprah). These services help the patient to make sound nutrition and supplement choices where needed as a strong preventive medicine measure.
