My New Favorite Obsession!

I have a new addiction if you will.  I eat and encourage all of my patients to eat real food.  Real food does not come in a box, can, or bag.  It is not processed.  This means that real food is real food like veggies and fruit from the produce department and proteins like grass-fed beef, pastured eggs and poultry and wild caught fish.  People seem to get a little lost in the beginning about what they are to eat.  They tend to find two or three things to make and then get stuck.  It’s actually pretty simple…just pick a protein source and add a vegetable.  The key to variety is using different veggies, but also spices!

I have issues with a lot of the spices on the market.  I usually don’t like the blends because they contain additives and often times MSG in some form or another.  BUT… I found a solution that I absolutely love.  Let me share…

A guy by the name of Chris Wallace is a chef and real food eater kind of guy who needed spice and variety so he created it.  He created FLAVOR GOD! I have to be honest I’m a little obsessed.  You have to find him online.  He offers four amazing spice varieties, Garlic Lovers, Lemon Garlic, Everything & Spicy Everything.  He also comes out with limited edition flavors that are highly coveted by his loyal fans.  He recently came out with Creole.   He sold out in less than 2 days.  The downside is that once he sells out of a limited edition, he rarely brings it back (insert sad face here).  He makes them fresh for you.  When you open the bottle the spices are so incredibly strong and when you cook with them the scent fills your home.  This doesn’t usually happen with traditional spices because they tend to be made in much larger batches and are processed and tend to be older by the time they make their way to your kitchen.

When you go on his website (Flavor God) you can purchase the whole set, individual bottles or he offers the set with downloadable recipe books.  The prices are really good as they come in much larger bottles compared to traditional spices.  The bottles contain 5 oz where traditional spices are usually half this amount.  Chris’s mission is: “My mission is and always will be to provide people with unique and delicious seasonings that help them create amazing meals everyday in kitchens all around the world.”  I think he’s doing a great job so far!

For those of you that are on Instagram, you will never be without a dinner plan.  There are two accounts that Chris created.  One is @flavorgod  and the other is @flavorgodrecipeguide.  Both are amazing resources.  He shares not only his kitchen creations with recipes and how-to’s but also those recipes that are shared by his legions of fans!  Between the two accounts there are multiple recipes published everyday.

My quick and easy favorites are broccoli and grass-fed beef covered in Creole Seasoning or vert green beans and red bell peppers obsessively covered in Spicy Everything seasoning with a fried egg on top.  Another easy favorite is to cook some grass-fed ground beef with garlic, onion, and diced tomatoes and stuff a bell pepper with the mixture and pop them in the oven.  Try a little avocado on top and bam there is a tasty dish with little effort!  I also highly believe in food prep Sunday if you have a busy week ahead.  Throw some chicken breasts covered in the Everything Seasoning in the oven/toaster oven and you’ll have delish chicken to throw in eggs, on top of salads or with fresh veggies during the week. I would love to share a bunch of recipes and pics from IG, because they look amazing and are never ending, but due to publishing rights I can’t.  So, definitely go check them out for yourself.  If you’re on Facebook this is his account (Flavor God), but the recipes are limited here.

Here are a couple of Chris’s that he said I could share with you.

flavorgodeggsA super simple egg scramble: 6 eggs, 1 avocado, 1/2 cup cooked chicken, bacon, blue cheese, 1 tbsp. Flavor God seasoning, 1/4 cup diced scallions, 1/2 cup of tomato. Throw it in a pan stirring occasionally until eggs are done.   How simple is that?  This looks amazing to me with very little effort in the kitchen.

With summer coming, this is a great chicken and veggie kebob for the grill.flavorgodkabob

flavorgodshrimpHere is another that I can’t wait to try, Crispy Honey Walnut Shrimp.
